Of Goodwill and Good Books

One of my hobbies lately has been to go to Goodwill and look for good books.
Primarily, Graphic Design related books.  So far my sister has discovered “The Art of Typography” by Martin Solomon, and I purchased the “Chicago Manual of Style”.  Both for the outrageously cheap price of $1 each!

Today, my lovely mom and I stopped by Goodwill on the way home.  And what to my wondering eyes did appear, a fantastic new book to begin the new year!  It was “Free Prize Inside: The Next Big Marketing Idea” by Seth Godin, and I am so thrilled at my new find.  I have read the first page, but can’t wait to get through the rest of it.

It will be joining my growing design library:

Have you found any spectacular bargains lately?

Mind maps

In my Sculpture I class, we have been using mind maps to generate ideas for our found object sculpture. I have found them extremely inspiring and freeing! So much fun to do.

We simply chose a word, wrote down the next few words that that came to mind when thinking about it, and so on and so forth.

Give it a try!
